BVI WATERSPORTS CENTRE

Based at Manuel Reef, Sea Cow's Bay (southwest of Road Harbour), they offer a year-round program of mixed watersports activities including sailing, kayaking, powerboat driving and swimming.

Their qualified instructors and a fleet of assorted boats travel to venues around the islands to take their expertise around the community.

As an RYA training center, they issue internationally recognized certifications for sailing and powerboating. It has become a Royal Lifesaving Society Commonwealth Member and offers courses in lifesaving and water education. www.bviwatersportscentres.com

KIDS AND THE SEA BVI (KATSBVI)

KATS is a volunteer organization, on both St. John and Tortola, whose inspirational program to promote safety on boats and around the water, has expanded from teaching Basic Sea Skills to swimming, sailboarding and scuba diving.

A consecutive series of seamanship courses are offered to youths from the ages of eight to eighteen. KATSBVI initiated the Premiere's Cup International Youth Regatta in 1999 so young adults could enjoy the learning experience of racing in the BVI.

For information about KATS in the British Virgin Islands go to www.katsbvi.com. For the St. John Chapter, call (340) 779-4994.
