Inner Harbour

In Road Harbor's northwest corner, Inner Harbour can be used as a provisioning stop or if business services are required. Road Town, being a well protected harbor, can be hot and still but the people are polite and enjoy helping a newcomer.

Entrance to the Village Cay Marina

Entrance to the Village Cay Marina with the hotel and restaurant behind.

IGY's Village Cay Marina on Wickham’s Cay I is to port and is the most popular for visiting yachts. All 106 berths have power, water, telephone and cable TV hookups for vessels up to 100 feet in length. There are typically more slips during the week as many of the crewed charter boats that dock there are out sailing with their guests. Village Cay is good for day moorage as it is the closest to many of the shops and restaurants in Road Town. IGY Village Cay Resort Marina has laundry facilities in the hotel and an internet room for checking email, the web or plugging your own laptop into a high speed connection for small fee.

One block's walk inland of Village Cay Marina is the commercial area of Road Town. Nearby are a full range of shops, more restaurants, Federal Express office, Bobby’s Markeplace for provisioning, Bolo’s department store, an electronics store and several bars for night time entertainment. Within the same complex, southeast of Village Cay Marina is Inner Harbour Marina which has only 20 berths with many occupied by charter boats. Fuel is available at the end of the dock at IGY-Village Cay Marina.

To the south of Village Cay Marina and along the waterfront there is row of shops with the Ample Hamper and Spaghetti Junction restaurant. This same area is home to Marine Depot Chandlery in the distinctive peach color round building. Nearby are several banks. Waterfront Drive, the main road one block away, is the home of Pussers and a little further south Capriccio Di Mare and the Ferry terminal building.

To the east and starboard side as you enter Wickham’s Cay is Wickham’s Cay II, home of The Moorings’, Sunsail and Footloose Charters Tortola Base. It is hard to miss, as The Moorings Base is large with dock space for over 150 of its fleet of white charter boats. Transient and visiting boats are accommodated on “A” dock with 120/220 power and water. Ashore is a full range of facilities, primarily for The Moorings, Sunsail and Footloose charter customers, but open to the public. These include Last Stop Sports for rental of water toys. The Mariner Inn Hotel also features an open-air restaurant and bar with a large swimming pool just a few steps away. One of the little-known secrets is the fuel dock at the Moorings base. Many think it is primarily for Moorings charter boats, but it is open to the public and offers good quality fuel at typically the lowest price in the BVI. Walking distance to the east, just a few blocks away from Wickham’s Cay II, is a well-stocked Riteway grocery store. Taxis are usually standing by at the Riteway to take you back to your dock if you decide to provision there. There are other businesses in Wickham's Cay II such as the Golden Hind Chandlery and a marine electronics store in the boat yard across the street from the Moorings complex. Towards the main road there is a Tico's store with a very good selection of beer, wine and spirits.
