Green Cay

Cheeseburgers in America’s Paradise

When leaving Green Cay Marina, turn left (east) on East End Road instead of turning right, toward town. In a half mile, the road turns sharply left (north) and several hundred yards later, another 90° turn to the right points you back east. Just past this last turn, on the right, is a landmark restaurant called Cheeseburgers in Paradise.

Apparently, Jimmy Buffet got irate over the name so it’s now legally named Cheeseburgers in America’s Paradise, but we all know what the real name is. Jimmy should have been flattered, not flustered. Anyway, locals usually refer to it as “Cheeseburgers,” period. The menu is generally pub grub with grilled fish sandwiches, burritos and what are advertised as the largest hamburgers on St. Croix.

Cheeseburgers in America’s Paradise

The restaurant is a large open-air affair, the food is great, the music is appropriate and the atmosphere tropical. The kids will love it.

It attracts snowbirds during the season, but caters to locals all year long.

Call Green Cay Marina on VHF 16 to receive a slip assignment. Because there is limited maneuvering room inside the marina, be sure to have explicit directions to an assigned slip before entering. Otherwise, be ready to tie up at the fuel dock if it is not already occupied.

We highly recommend you rent a car and see the island. Check out the article Rent a Car by Joe for additional information.
